Black spot diseases in carrot

چکیده
An important problem in organic carrot production in the Netherlands is the occurrence of black spots during storage. Several different fungal pathogens cause similar symptoms, which are collectively known as black spot diseases. We identified Alternaria radicina, A. dauci and Rhexocercosporidium carotae (syn. Acrothecium carotae) as the most prevalent black spot pathogens. We developed laboratory test methods for resistance to A. radicina and R. carotae, and assessed resistance in a collection of cultivated varieties and more exotic

IPM Perspectives for Carrot Foliar Diseases in Wisconsin (A3945)
Overview Each year the commercial carrot crop in Wisconsin suffers losses from alternaria leaf blight, cercospora leaf spot, and aster yellows. The first two are diseases caused by fungi (Alternaria dauci and Cercospora carotae). The third is a disease caused by the aster yellows phytoplasma, a parasitic bacterium of carrot phloem tissue and also of the aster leafhopper (Macrosteles quadrilinea...
متن کاملNatural dyes extracted from black carrot and bramble for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells
Two different natural dyes containing anthocyanin extracted from black carrot and bramble from Iran. Spectrophotometric evaluations of the natural dyes in solution and on a TiO2 substrate were carried out in order to assess changes in the status of the natural dyes. The results show that the natural dyes indicate buthochromic shift on the TiO2 substrates. The chemical adsorption of natural dyes...
متن کاملImmunomodulatory effects of seagrass Halophila ovalis polysaccharide mixed feed in adult black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon and its protective efficacy against white spot syndrome virus infection
As white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) can be highly pathogenic in penaeid shrimp, various feed supplements have been tested to help to protect farmed shrimp against WSSV disease. Here a polysaccharide extract from Halophila ovalis (HO) seagrass was added to feeds at concentrations of 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 g[a1] /kg to assess its ability to protect Black Tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) against WSSV ch...

متن کاملAlternaria Pathosystems for Study of Citrus Diseases
Leaf spot disease of rough lemon and brown spot disease of tangerines caused by distinct pathotypes of Alternaria alternata, and postharvest fruit black rot disease caused by A. citri, are the three major fungal diseases of citrus. The pathogenicity and specificity for the pathogens of Alternaria leaf spot and brown spot diseases are associated with the production of different host-specific tox...
